Swedish boat brand IRON Broats is to make its debut in North America.
The brand was founded in 2019 and since then has built nearly 1,000 boats.
The North American operation will be headed by Boyd Tomkies of North Carolina based Waka US.
Boyd has helped to launch and build RIB brands BRIG and Fluid Watercraft in the US and says IRON Boats style, functionality and price point will make the brand popular with US boaters.
Features of RON Boats include a center console fiberglass hull with a 12in-tall fender running around the perimeter of the boat.
A patented air-chambered fender has been developed to provide IRON Boats with performance and functionality similar to that found in rigid hull inflatable boats.
Functionality
The rubber fender improves functionality in a couple of ways, explained Boyd.
“It absorbs shock, which contributes to a smooth and silent running hull with great seaworthiness,” he said.
“It also makes it easy for boaters to dock or raft-up with other boats. In many ways, it gives you the benefit of a RIB, without the worry of a puncture.”
IRON Boats is headed by Swedish brothers, Lars and Henrik Peterson whose company, IRONBROTHERS partnered with design studio Mannerfelt Design Team.
“The result is form-meets-function,” said Boyd.
“It’s a great looking, performance-based boat. The rubber fender adds to boat’s overall aesthetic and its functionality is unmatched in the industry.”
