Spanish boat market rebounds in February

Spain has recorded 468 new recreational boat registrations (including jet skis) during January and February 2026, a 1.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.

However, during the month of February boat registrations saw a positive trend with a 3.9% growth in registrations recorded.

The figures are revealed in the Recreational Boat Market Report (February 2026), prepared by ANEN (National Association of Nautical Companies) based on records provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine.

Smaller boats continue to dominate the market with the up-to-6-metre segment continuing to hold the largest share in the January-February period, with 321 registrations (68.6% market share).

Motorboats dominate market share

This is followed by boats between 6 and 8 metres in length, with 68 units (14.5%), and the 8-to-12-metre segment, with 44 registrations (9.4%).

In the larger vessel length categories, there were 18 units registered between 12 and 16 metres (3.8% market share) and 17 registrations of larger vessels over 16 metres (3.6%).

By vessel type, motorboats had 220 registrations during the period, a 47% market share and a growth of 3.3%, followed by personal watercraft with 96 units registered (20.5%), a decrease of 30%.

Inflatable boats (RIBs) with 75 registrations (16% market share) fell by 3.8% and semi-rigid inflatable boats totaled 47 registrations, also a decrease of 6%.

Sailing boat registrations improve

Registrations of sailing boats improved with 20 registrations in the period – a growth of 17.6% in relation to the same period in 2025.

The charter market has improved in the year-to-date, with 118 registrations – a 5.6% year-on-year decrease.

In terms of regions, the Balearic Islands accounted for the largest volume of registrations, with 69 units (14.7% of the total) and a 4.5% year-to-date increase, followed by Murcia (12% of the nautical market) with a 40% increase in registrations.

Barcelona had 8.5% of the market, with 40 registrations, a 32% decrease and Alicante (7.9% of the market) with 37 registrations and a 23% decrease.
