French floating housing companies Anthenea and SeaLoft are to partner to cater for the rise in unusual water-based tourism.
The partnership is designed to provide a joint response to calls for requests – both in France and internationally – in the field of experiential and sustainable tourism on the water.
Anthenea, based in Brittany, was founded in 2017 with its prototype launched in 2018. The company says its goal is to provide tourist accommodation on the water without the constraits of navigation.
SeaLoft has designed and manufactured a 48sqm houseboat concept designed for comfort, with an ecological design.
Based in Lorient, the company’s first houseboat is used in the rental market.
This is excellent news for the company: we have already initiated the first commercial offers.

The companies say that together, they will reinvent the floating accommodation experience, combining their complementary approaches, aesthetics, and the same requirement for quality, durability and connection to the living.
“The Anthenea team’s in-depth knowledge of the houseboat market and its technical expertise appear to us to be major commercial assets for the development of SeaLoft,” said Éric Séchaud, founder of SeaLoft.
Jacques-Antoine Cesbron, founding president of Anthenea, added: “SeaLoft enriches Anthenea’s commercial offering with a rectangular floating habitat whose design and elegance resonate with our values. This merger seemed obvious to us.”
Turning point for water tourism sector
Anthenea’s houseboat is designed for lagoons, bays and protected areas, while SeaLoft’s accommodation is suitable for mooring at a dock or for cruising in sheltered waters.
The companies say the partnership marks a structuring turning point for the water tourism sector, promoting the pooling of expertise, the complementarity of solutions, and a strengthened capacity to respond to large-scale projects, while maintaining an artisanal and human approach.
“This is excellent news for the company: we have already initiated the first commercial offers,” concluded Yannick Littoux, COO Anthenea.
