Askeladden Boats’ brand rights, intellectual property and selected assets have been acquired following the Norwegian boatbuilder’s bankruptcy on 1 September 2026.
The company, founded in Hagavik in 1911, filed for bankruptcy with debt of almost NOK42 million after a prolonged downturn in trading. Its accounts show operating revenue falling from NOK336.9m in 2022 to NOK51.9m in 2025, while cash and bank balances fell to NOK256,000 by the end of 2025.
Polish boatbuilder Parker Poland has acquired the Askeladden trademark, domain name, moulds and brand rights that were formerly owned by Askeladden Boats AS.
Norwegian supplier Norsk Modell og Formplast AS has separately acquired the rights and moulds for the Askeladden Fenix C66BR, one of the brand’s newest models.
The acquisition relates to certain assets, brand rights and intellectual property formerly owned by Askeladden, rather than the acquisition of the bankrupt Askeladden legal entity.
Marine distribution
Parker Poland, headquartered in Warsaw, manufactures Parker motorboats and is one of Poland’s largest marine distribution companies.
It plans to focus on outboard-powered Askeladden boats in the 7m to 14m segment, while continuing production of joint Parker-Askeladden products at the Model Art factory in Ostróda, Poland.
Norsk Modell og Formplast, which has been sole supplier of the Fenix model since launch, will focus on smaller Nordic-designed recreational and sport-fishing boats under 7m. Through a licence agreement with Parker Poland, these boats will also be marketed and sold under the Askeladden name.
Both companies are now working to establish a new Nordic distribution network.
Henrik J. Askvik, former chairman of Askeladden Boats AS, has been appointed as an adviser to both businesses.
Askvik said the agreement represents a solid industrial platform for the further development of the Askeladden brand at a challenging time for the global boating industry.
