nlcomp breaks ground on new factory

Construction has begun on nlcomp’s new factory, with a ground breaking ceremony to mark the occasion.

The rFactory facility is the company’s first industrial production facility dedicated to sustainable composite materials.

The building, located in the Monfalcone Lisert area of Italy, is being built in wood and with panels made using nlcomp’s own rComposite material.

The facility incorporates around 500sqm of covered space and an area dedicated to offices and is due to be completed next October.

“It’s designed to house a production line for large-scale composite components (up to 20m in length), alongside office spaces, design areas, and a dedicated meeting room for collaboration with partners and stakeholders,” explained a spokesperson from nlcom.

“This facility marks a strategic step forward in our growth.

“From our roots in the marine industry, we’re now expanding into new markets such as wind energy and high-performance advanced materials, with an unwavering focus on sustainability and circularity.”

And the spokesperson explained that the rFactory is an important step forward in its plans to launch small series production and advance its vision for a more sustainable industry.

“Beyond its production capacity, rFactory is a concrete commitment to local manufacturing, innovation, and a truly circular supply chain — showing that even in deep-tech, sustainable industrialisation can be designed, funded, and built in Italy,” concluded the spokesperson.

Earlier in 2025, Northern Light, a brand of nlcomp released more details about its new Offshore sailing yacht which is due to launch in Autumn 2025.
