High-performance electric outboard motor developer, ExploMar, will unveil its latest innovation — the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform at the 2025 Venice Boat Show.
The Battery Platform has been designed to break the 200km range barrier, a step forward for medium-to-long-range electric boating.
The SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform has achieved system-level capacity expansion with modular configuration capabilities.
Each outboard motor system can be configured with up to 270kWh, while a dual-motor system can extend to 540kWh, and a four-motor system can achieve a total energy capacity of 1,080kWh.
The Battery Platform’s capabilities make it suitable for work boats and leisure boats with electrification of traditional, high-fuel-consumption vessels, such as medium-sized ferries, a possibility.
High-power
The SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform uses next-generation cells with an energy density of 250Wh/kg, developed to balance a long lifespan, with lightweight design, and high-power output requirements.
The battery supports 1C to 2C high-discharge rates and fast charging capabilities and is compatible with both 400V and 800V voltage platforms, interfacing with mainstream port fast-charging networks.
In addition, to address multi-climate operational challenges, the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform incorporates a dual thermal management system. A liquid cooling system ensures stable operation in hot climates, while an electronic heating system quickly activates in cold conditions to maintain cell activity and safe discharge.
The SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform is designed for seamless integration into diverse vessel designs.
Vessel balance
The modular architecture features a compact double-layer cell stack (710mm wide, 300mm high), making it easy to install in a vessel’s stern while optimising vessel balance.
ExploMar’s proprietary BMS and integrated high-voltage E/E architecture allow each system to support up to three battery packs, enabling on-demand expansion.
The flexibility has been developed to benefit both boatbuilders and service providers — simplifying installation in new builds and improving aftermarket adaptability for energy upgrades and replacements.
Electrification
“With the launch of the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform, ExploMar eliminates the 200km range as a technological ceiling and redefines what’s possible in electric marine travel,” explained a spokesperson from ExploMar.
“This innovation supports the broader electrification of water transport — accelerating adoption, enabling new use cases like island transport and cross-shore commuting, and paving the way toward a low-maintenance, zero-emission, high-performance future on the water.”
The launch of the SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform follows on from from a raft of other product launches from ExploMar including the company’s WAVE 300, WAVE 150+, WAVE 70+, and the 5S Energy Station.
The Venice Boat Show will takee place from May 29 – June 2 2025. The new SUPER/ISLAND Battery Platform will be on display on the AS LABRUNA SRL stand.
