McConaghy Boats has launched its first GT86 power catamaran after nearly two years of development, with sea trials and onboard systems commissioning now underway.
The bespoke yacht measures 25.54 metres overall with a 9.24-metre beam.
Twin Volvo IPS 1350 drives provide a reported top speed of approximately 28 knots, while 15,000 litres of fuel capacity supports a stated range exceeding 3,000 nautical miles.
A key development is an integrated vessel-control system that brings onboard functions into a common interface.
McConaghy plans to introduce the system on selected future builds, extending its application beyond the first GT86.
Integrated vessel control
“The GT86 features the next generation of integrated vessel control, allowing owners to access all systems via a common user interface, similar to what they are accustomed to with an iPad,” said a company spokesperson.
“This new system will be rolled out across selected McConaghy builds as we move forward.”
The main-deck saloon opens onto an aft terrace, with further outdoor seating and entertaining space on the foredeck. Twin staircases provide access to the water. Below deck, the arrangement includes an owner’s suite, guest cabins and flexible accommodation options for extended cruising.
Published specifications list a draught of 1.35 metres and displacement of approximately 50 tonnes. Fresh-water capacity is 1,500 litres, with separate 800-litre black-water and 500-litre grey-water tanks. Interior headroom is two metres, and the builder lists CE Category A.
McConaghy is responsible for both design and construction. The company has more than 50 years of experience in advanced composites, including Grand Prix racing yachts, America’s Cup campaigns and cruising vessels.
