Marine Supply of Winter Haven acquired

Florida’s Marine Supply of Winter Haven has been acquired by a group of local investors, led by John Saterbo, Tom Kersting, and Jeff Donalson of Thomas Capital.

The business was founded by Gerald Emry in 1952 and is a third-generation business, currently operated by father and daughter team, Richard Emry and Tricia Gurr.

The company was one of the first Mercury dealerships in Florida and for more than six decades has been a successful central Florida marina. There is also a dry storage facility.

A former bait shop and boat rental business have evolved into a full-service dealership.

New and used boat sales

The business also carries out new and used boat sales with its boat selection including Sweetwater Pontoons, Hurricane Deck boats, Tidewater bay boats, Crestliner and Alumacraft.

Along with Mercury engines, Marine Supply is also a supplier of Yamaha and Suzuki engines.

The new team say they are real estate investors with a strong appreciation for the marine industry and the Central Florida lake lifestyle.

The team plans to preserve Marine Supply’s current operations, retaining the existing staff and continuing to serve its customers without disruption.

Investing in the future

In addition, they intend to invest in enhancing the area around the lake, improving amenities and the overall experience for boaters and visitors while maintaining the property’s character and heritage.

“This was a natural match between seller and buyer,” said Viking Mergers & Acquisitions partner Larry ‘Tripp’ Lawson III, who facilitated the transaction along with senior advisor Jacob Middleton.

“The sellers were committed to finding someone who would carry on their legacy, and the buyers were equally committed to preserving the business and investing in its future.”
