Lemer Group acquired by Carlesimo Group

Carlesimo Group has acquired the French based lead and aluminum foundry Lemer Group.

Lemer has manufactured lead keels and bulbs since it was founded in 1878, supplying a range of boats including yachts taking part in the Vendée Globe Challenge and the America’s Cup, as well as to many French and international shipyards including CDK Technologies, Multiplast, Chantier de l’Atlantique and Bénéteau.

Lemer has three production sites on the outskirts of Nantes including a dedicated 450sqm production site for the manufacture of custom keels and bulbs, from prototypes to large series, for mini 6.50 to super yachts.

The ISO 9001-certified factory is able to manufacture keels and bulbs from 100kg to 20 tonnes supporting the construction of racing yachts, top-of-the-range pleasure boats and even military vessels.

Lead casting

The company was taken over in 2016 by its manager Laurent Lécole and Pascaline Lemer as part of an MBO backed by Tikehau Capital, Ouest Croissance and Litto Invest which enabled it to expand into new markets.

This latest acquisition by Carlesimo Group will enable it to accelerate its growth and explore new industrial opportunities.

The merger aims to create the leading French foundry for lead casting in the yachting, industrial, and nuclear sectors while ensuring continuity and innovation within the group.

Lemer Group joins a number of other Carlesimo Group subsidiaries including Lory International and Althimasse which are dedicated to cast-iron counterweights for industry and civil engineering, and Navylest International which specialises in lead ballast weights and keels for the nautical industry.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen Carlesimo’s expertise and offering in the marine, nuclear and aeronautical sectors.
