Invincible boats to lay off 74 workers

The Invincible Boat Co is to lay off 74 workers at its Opa-Locka, Florida, facility, as it moves away from manufacturing to a marine service and support facility.

In a state filing, the sport fishing boatbuilder which is owned by Warbird Marine Holdings, says as a result of the transition, manufacturing and production positions will be permanently eliminated, although a portion of the workforce will remain to support ongoing service operations.

The first layoffs are expected to occur in January 2026.

Invincible currently has 128 employees with around 45 expected to remain with the company.

The employees affected will be within manufacturing, assembly, lamination, rigging, and support functions, along with a limited number of supervisory and technical staff directly tied to production.

Production of Invincible’s lineup will shift to a facility in Sarasota operated by its sister company Yellowfin Boats.

World’s authority on multihull design

Invincible was founded in 2006 in Miami with the aim of building the best possible centre console boats. Models range from 33-foot to 46-foot in length.

“When Invincible decided to get into the center console catamaran segment, we did not choose to simply compete, but to revolutionise the category with another game-changing design,” says a statement on Invincible’s website.

“Partnering with Morrelli & Melvin, the notable naval architects who are the world’s authority on multihull designs, we started from scratch.

“Olympians and retired competitive sailors in their own right, their investment in computational fluid dynamics produced Invincible’s patented, hybrid, semi-asymmetrical, multihull design that leads the industry in ride quality, handling and speed.”
