HanseYachts has appointed the Unimat Group as its new exclusive distribution partner for the Japanese market.
The Unimat Group is one of Japan’s leading lifestyle and service corporations, with a diversified portfolio spanning marine, hospitality, golf, elderly care, real estate, and leisure businesses.
The appointment is aimed at strengthening HanseYachts presence in Asia and growing the shipyard’s presence in a region with significant potential for sailing and motor yachts.
Within the marine sector, Unimat operates the largest marina network in Japan and provides customers with a range of services including boat sales, storage, maintenance, marine equipment, restaurants, and leisure facilities.
Seven marinas nationwide
Unimat entered the marina business in 2006 with the opening of City Marina Velasis (342 berths).
Since then, the group has expanded its operations and now operates seven marinas nationwide.
The latest marina to be added to the group’s portfolio was in April 2024, when Unimat began operating the Tokyo Yumenoshima Marina, which accommodates 660 vessels.
With this addition, the company now manages a total of 2,020 berths.
“We are proud to have the Unimat Group as a strong and reliable partner in Japan,” said Maxim Neumann, vice president at HanseYachts.
“Following the handover from Winkler & Co, we are convinced that Unimat is the ideal partner to further establish our brands in the Japanese market.
“Together we will continue HanseYachts’ success story in Asia.”
