Haines Hunter has confirmed that production will recommence as early as next week following a fire at its manufacturing facility.
The fire took hold of the Haines Hunter Australia factory in Derrimut, Victoria, on January 9 and took several hours to bring under control.
The incident caused disruption to operations and damaged some molds.
Boats already in assembly at the time of the fire that were not impacted by the blaze, will be completed and prepared for delivery with the next few days.
The boatbuilder says decision to reinstate operations reflects a clear and considered commitment by managing director John Haber and co-director Leanne Haber to the future of the Australian boat-building brand and the broader marine industry.
It will take more than a fire to stop us moving forward.

“It will take more than a fire to stop us moving forward,” said John.
“We are Haines Hunter — an iconic Australian brand, proudly supporting Australian manufacturing and the marine industry. I can’t simply walk away from that.”
And he explained that the decision was driven by responsibility to both people and industry alike.
“There are lives and livelihoods that we must continue to support. Our staff have families, children with school fees, and mortgages to meet,” he said.
“Our suppliers depend on our business, and we play an integral role within the marine industry. We have a responsibility to do everything we can to keep Australian manufacturing alive.”
Unexpected and challenging event
And the directors praised the Haines Hunter team which they said have demonstrated exceptional resilience, unity, and determination, working together with a shared purpose, and turning an unexpected and challenging event into a positive step forward for the business.
The business has been assisted in its recovery efforts by suppliers, industry partners and individuals, with the company acknowleding that their support has enabled it to progress through a complex recovery program in a remarkably short timeframe.
Patience, encouragement and support
And the directors also extended their appreciation to the dealer network and customers for their patience, encouragement, and support and to the authorities for their support and cooperation to rebuild the areas affected by the fire.
“This process has reminded us what Haines Hunter truly stands for — not only the boats we build, but the people, the legacy, and the responsibility we carry as an Australian manufacturer,” said John.
