Greenline Yachts introduces ‘revolutionary’ technology

Greenline Yachts is introducing ‘revolutionary’ technology eliminating the need for a generator to power the hotel load.

The yacht builder has developed its new Responsible Power Pack technology, to provide alternative power solutions across its range.

The yacht builder says this is a further step forward in its sustainable boating ethos.

The new Responsible Power Pack provides a combination of a larger battery package and alternators which allows lower emissions without any compromise on the way the yachts are used.

The Power Pack will provide at least 48-hours of battery power – even when running the entire house – when the yacht is at anchor or on a dock.

Instead of a generator, Greenline will fit a high-powered alternator that can take power from the engine when it runs to recharge a large lithium battery bank.

This will enable a yacht to arrive at its destination with full batteries. When energy is used efficiently, the autonomy of the yacht can be extended for days by using solar power to cover hotel loads such as induction cooking and lighting.

For conventional yachts, eliminating the generator is nothing short of revolutionary.

Greenline says the move will particularly fit owners who still opt for a conventional diesel powered yacht but are sensitive to new way of interpreting their yachting with a more responsible philosophy.

“For conventional yachts, eliminating the generator is nothing short of revolutionary,” said Vladimir Zinchenko, Greenline Yachts owner. “There is barely a yacht on the market in Greenline’s class of length and luxury that is capable of doing this.

“My mission has always been to further the concept of responsible yachting, and this shift towards using high-powered alternators and batteries will save tonnes of CO2 emissions.”

Chief commercial officer Luca Raumland added: “The figures are unequivocal.

Our responsible Power Pack can eliminate a staggering amount of the carbon emissions associated with running a yacht at anchor.

“By tapping the engine’s spare power when the yacht is under way, we can make non-hybrid models almost as efficient to operate as their hybrid alternatives.”

And he pointed out that with careful use of the aircon, the solar panels fitted as standard to every yacht can fully replenish the batteries during the day and keep the yacht emissions free at anchor indefinitely.
