First fully solar-charged eJet tender launched

Sunpower Yachts International has launched its Sunpower Solar-eJET 3.3m inflatable Tender, thought to be the world’s first solar powered e-jet tender designed to be seamlessly recharged directly from the yacht’s solar energy system — eliminating the need for fuel, cables, or shore power.

The tender has been designed to complement the entire Sunpower fleet, including the flagship Sunpower-Stealth-Solar-e-137ft.

“The Sunpower Solar-eJET tender marks a turning point in clean marine innovation,” explained Grant Hudson, Sunpower Yachts executive director.

“No more trailing fuel cans or relying on marina power. Now your tender is as self-sufficient as your yacht—powered by the sun, always ready to go.”

The Solar-eJET 3.3m has been engineered for direct integration with the Sunpower yacht’s solar energy system.

When stowed in its dedicated tender bay, a built-in connection point allows the tender to plug into the yacht’s solar charging port, topping up the tender’s battery from the yacht’s solar array.

Key features of the Solar-eJET 3.3m include a 10kWh lithium battery pack which powers a 22kW (30hp equivalent) advanced jet drive – the system uses high-performance brushless DC motor with liquid cooling for quiet propulsion.

Marine-grade aluminium

The tender’s V-shaped hull is manufactured from marine-grade aluminium with reinforced Hypalon tubes making the tender suitable for a range of uses such as beach landings or water sports.

The tender is able to seat up to five passengers and has been designed for inshore coastal use.

Standard features and equipment of Sunpower’s new tender include a welded aluminium deck with a grey and black foam teak finish, four aluminium davit lifting points and reinforced towing rings, integrated cushioned seating and mechanical steering.

The tender weighs 105kg excluding the battery and is built at the Antalya Shipyard in Turkey.
