Ferretti Group has acquired full ownership of the Wally brand having purchased the remaining 25% of Sea Lion S.r.l., the company that owns the luxury motor and sailing boatbuilder.
The acquisition follows on from an initial agreement that was signed in April 2019 with Ferretti acquiring 75% of Sea Lion.
The transaction brings Ferretti’s stake to 100% of Sea Lion’s share capital, fully consolidating its ownership of the company.
Ferretti says the increased stake in Sea Lion represents a key step toward full control of the Wally brand, in line with the company’s long-term strategy focused on enhancing high-potential assets.
The parties say the decision was reached jointly and within the context of a relationship characterised by mutual respect and close collaboration, which has marked the shared journey so far.
I am very pleased to have chosen Ferretti Group to continue the development of Wally.
Luca Bassani Antivari
The acquisition also validates the achievements of Wally’s founder Dr Luca Bassani Antivari, in the development and growth of Wally, one of the Group’s strategic brands.
“I would like to thank Luca Bassani for the excellent work carried out together with Ferretti Group, which has relaunched Wally as a global icon in both sailing and motor yachting,” said Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group chief executive officer.
“On behalf of the Group, I reaffirm our commitment to enhancing and further developing a top-tier brand that, through its innovation and prestige, stands as a remarkable player in the international nautical industry. You will be hearing more about Wally very soon.”
Innovation and elegance
Luca Bassani added: “I am very pleased to have chosen Ferretti Group to continue the development of Wally, a brand defined by innovation and elegance, to which I have dedicated so much work and passion.”
The transaction has no material impact on the Group’s cash position and does not qualify as a related-party transaction under applicable regulations.
Ferretti Group designs, constructs, and sells luxury yachts ranging from 8 to 95 meters in length.
The Group’s portfolio consists of Ferretti Yachts, Riva, Pershing, Itama, CRN, Custom Line, and Wally and the Group owns and operates seven shipyards across Italy.
