Developers acquire Brisbane marina for $12.25 million

Plans are being finalised for a Brisbane, Australia, marina which has been sold to developers for $12.25 million.

The Spinnaker Sound Marina sale to Ignite Projects included more than 200 wet and dry marina berths together with associated marina facilities such as a marina office, restaurant and café and development land.

The transaction is one of the largest marina sales in Australia in the last year and attracted expressions of interest from across Australia and abroad.

“Our EOI campaign drew a lot of interest from Australia and abroad as it’s not often a marina development site of this calibre comes on the market,” said Liam Cox of agent JLL which sold the site.

International access

“The marina is a gateway to Moreton Bay, Bribie Island and Pumicestone Passage, not to mention international access to destinations such as Asia Pacific.”

And he said interest was also sparked by the upcoming 2032 Olympic Games.

Director of the Ignite Projects, Josh Foote, said the redevelopment would start with a new name – Sandstone Point Marina – and a new look.

The marina lease covers 150 berths for vessels up to 20 metres, while a dry stack storage facility caters for boats up to 7 metres plus hard stand storage for boats up to 8 metres.

Redevelopment

Boat maintenance and repair services are also offered.

The redevelopment will provide benefits for the wider community with the introduction of green spaces and shared amenities.

It will also include landscaping, communal seating areas and a hospitality precinct.

In addition, 67 apartments will be built at the marina together with recreation areas, a swimming pool, cycle parking and car parking.
