Callegari RIBs to return with aerospace technology

The Italian inflatable boat company Callegari is to return following the acquisition of the brand and its assets by Aviorec, part of the Recchia Industrial Group.

Aviorec specialises in the design, industrialisation, and production of composite structural parts for the aerospace industry, with its core business being the production of critical components and structural assemblies, such as rotor blades for helicopters.

These engineering solutions and materials will be transferred to the shipyard’s production chain to create high-tech vessels integrating design, engineering, and production

The Callegari shipyard dates back to the 1970s and over the years has manufactured thousands of RIBS.

Composite materials and lightweight structures

The shipyard is now set to move into a new era using Aviorec’s experience in composite materials and lightweight structures.

Work is underway on a highly technical line, with a top-of-the-range maxi RIB currently in an advanced design phase.

There will also be a new management structure with Jacopo Recchia, CEO of Aviorec taking on  a dual role at Callegari and the the role of sales manager entrusted to Giampaolo Capponi.

Lorenzo Guadagnucci will be involved in the exterior design of the maxi-RIB currently being designed and engineer Antonello Guidi will take on the roles of technical and operational director, while Francesca Rubbi will be responsible for interior design.

Diversification strategy

The acquisition of the Callegari brand is part of Aviorec’s plan to further expand its sectors.

In addition to aerospace, Aviorec is also involved in a range of other sectors, including railways, automotive, and marine.

The acquisition of the brand is part of the Recchia Industrial Group’s diversification strategy.

The group’s stated goal is to build a new generation of inflatable boats using its experience in composites and advanced structural processes while maintaining the Italian artisan tradition and versatility typical of inflatable boats.
