Bellini Yacht introduces digital product passports

Bellini Yacht, the luxury yacht business unit of the Bellini Group, and French based company Arianee are partnering to develop a digital product passport (DPP) for the boatbuilder’s Astor 36 and Astor 58 models.

The digital passports will be based on blockchain technology and an open source foundation, and are set to increase transparency by tracking all lifecycle events of the boats, recorded over time by certified stakeholders.

The companies believe this is the first application in the yachting sector of the digital solution introduced by the European Union to provide a detailed overview of a product’s sustainability throughout the production process.

The DPP, which can be activated via a QR code applied to a card provided upon delivery, will provide customers with information on traceability, authenticity and quality throughout the supply chain of their yacht.

Details and features provided will include a digital version of the certificate of authenticity and ownership of the vessel and an unchangeable history of the product life cycle, such as maintenance, repairs or customisations.

The passport will also show information on the production process, from the procurement of raw materials to the finished product and a history of ownership transfers.

“Today, with this solution, we are redefining the concept of ownership in the world of yachts,” explained Battista Bellini, CEO of the Bellini Group.

“With our digital passport, each yacht tells its story, certifies its authenticity, documents the craftsmanship and sustainability of the materials used and guarantees the quality of the production processes.

We are redefining the concept of ownership in the world of yachts.

“Everything is tracked and verifiable in real time, thanks to the power of blockchain technology.”

Pierre-Nicolas Hurstel, CEO and co-founder of Arianee, added: “This partnership is a natural extension of our mission to empower brands to build long-lasting, trusted relationships with their customers through transparency, traceability and enriched experiences.

“The launch of DPPs in this sector not only reinforces the value of the Arianee protocol, but also demonstrates the growing importance of sustainability and trust in the world of luxury mobility.”

In the long term, Bellini Yacht plans to equip its entire fleet with digital product passports.
