Gildas Le Masson step down as Nautitech Catamarans MD

Gildas Le Masson has stepped down from his role as Nautitech Catamarans MD.

Based in Rochefort, the Nautitech Catamarans shipyard, which employs around 140 people, achieved sales of 30 million euros in 2023, with earnings of 1.5 million, and a production of around 50 units.

Gildas had been in post for six years, after a career in marine electronics including roles with Magellan Thales and nine years at Navico.

As MD of the shipyard, Gildas helped to reposition the brand in the owner-boat market – after a previous attempt by the company to develop its charter market.

He also reorganised the catamaran production into one multi-purpose line – previously it was two. Gildas managed the shipyard through the Covid 19 pandemic, and launched two strategic models, the Nautitech Open 44, and the Nautitech Open 48, which was launched at Miami International Boat Show 2024.

He steered Nautitech Catamarans back to profitability with sales on a par with 2019 pre-Covid.

“Under his leadership, Nautitech Catamarans has enjoyed historic success, including the launch of two new models, one of them award-winning, that have redefined industry standards,” said Kai Brandes, chairman of the supervisory board of Bavaria Yachtbau Holding. “We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Bavaria Yachtbau Holding will now carry out an immediate search for a new MD to continue the momentum set in motion by Gildas who is expected to remain in the marine industry. Nautitech Catamarans has been part of Bavaria Yachtbau Holding GmbH since 2014.
