First North American electric travel lift

Kropf Industrial’s first all-electric travel lift is now in service in what the company believes is a first for North America.

Kropf Industrial manufactures the Conolift line of boat handling equipment, and has delivered its first electric product to an Ontario Yacht Club.

The design has eliminated both the diesel power unit and the hydraulic system, providing a simplified machine that is quiet, and free from emissions and the risk of spills from fluids and oils.

“Reliable, proven technologies were utilised throughout the design, ensuring safe, long-term operations and ease of maintenance and service,” said a Kropf Industrial spokesperson. “The low-voltage battery packs are safe, proven, and easy to maintain.”

Diagnostics

The lift includes the same options as those available on a diesel-powered unit, including proportional controls, two-speed winches, sling positioners, and radio-remote operation.

Diagnostics, machine status updates, and service are carried out through use of a large external touchscreen, and the machine can be remotely diagnosed and serviced through connection to a wifi network.

The all-electric design is paired with Conolift’s fabrication methods, design, and finishes.

The lift has a capacity of 40 tons has been through a testing program at Kropf’s facility.

It is now being used by a Toronto-area marine facility for its haul out and launch operations.

“To date, the lift has exceeded expectations for ease of use, reliability, battery life, and low charging times,” added the spokesperson.
