First hybrid Swan 88 launched

Nautor Swan has launched its first hybrid Swan 88.

The Swan 88 is Nautor Swan’s first model developed from the outset to offer a hybrid electric propulsion option in partnership with Torqeedo.

The design has been developed with German Frers for naval architecture, Misa Poggi for interior design and Lucio Micheletti, Micheletti + Partners, for the exterior styling.

“The Swan 88 marks an important milestone for the shipyard’s production,” said Giovanni Pomati, Nautor Group CEO. “It’s the first hybrid propulsion yacht, which has seen a constant collaboration with Torqeedo and has contributed to the study and development of the same features across the entire range, not just maxi yachts.”

He added: “This important new model, of which we will launch the second unit in a few days, represents Swan’s 360-degree essence, the DNA that for 58 years has made our boats recognisable worldwide, and we are very proud of it.”

Efficient platform

Nautor Swan says its decision to develop the yacht stems from the aim of offering a performance yacht based on an efficient platform, minimising management costs and simplifying the charter certification process.

The Swan 88 has been designed to present an opportunity for owners to reduce running costs by chartering with the design meeting the 24-metre load line length rule for compliance to the light MCA charter regulations.

Characteristics include a new coachroof shape inspired by the wind, with essential and dynamic lines enhanced.

The yacht has a draught fin T-keel of 4 meters and twin rudders. The hull and deck are constructed from carbon fibre epoxy using Sprint lamination technology together with the yard’s proprietary advanced carbon mould technology.

The yacht will make her worldwide début at the Cannes Yachting Festival, from September 10-15 and Monaco Yacht Show, from September 25 – 28 2024.
