Electric boatbuilder Navia and E-ssence, a rental app for electric boats have announced a partnership with the aim of revolutionising the blue economy and the electric nautical sector in Italy.
The partnership will see Navia supplying its boats and installing the E-ssence application package in all models, which in turn will promote the share-mobility business on water.
“From the beginning, we understood Navia’s approach towards the high-quality of their boats; not only in terms of materials, but above all in terms of engineering and performance at sea,” explained Leonardo Caiazza, founder of E-ssence. “Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to offer our customers a constantly cutting-edge product.
“We are two start-ups that entered the sustainable boating sector at the same time, presenting distinct but perfectly complementary models. We are convinced that this collaboration represents a victory for both parties.”
E-ssence was launched in 2023. Its business model is that of short-term rental of electric boats, such as the rental market in cities for bicycles or scooters.
Users search the app map for the nearest boat and once the boat is hired, will be able to unlock the rudder through the app and then use the boat.
E-ssence points out that at a European level, such as in Amsterdam, there are similar systems that combine high technology and a totally green transport choice, but the system is not widespread in Italy.
Guglielmo La Via, founder of Navia, added: “Thanks to E-ssence and their innovative electric boat sharing service we are confident that we can optimally respond to the growing needs of the market. “I believe their scalable business model can drive visibility of our product to a large, highly targeted audience of customers.”
