FTP introduces ePowertrain portfolio

Iveco Group brand FPT Industrial is introducing its ePowertrain portfolio to the marine sector.

The company says the introduction is a step towards an increasingly zero-emission marine world.

FTP created an ePowertrain department in 2018 and since 2022, the ePowertrain department’s main hubs based in the R&D centers in Arbon (Switzerland), Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy) have developed a range of more sustainable products that reduce CO2 emissions.

The products were initially developed for the on-road market and are now being introduced to the marine sector.

“The drive for innovation, which has always guided the development of our products and business, leads us to add a new chapter in the journey towards zero-emission powertrains solutions,” said Andrea Cugnini, vice president, FPT Industrial ePowertrain Business Line.

This is a very important step that clearly demonstrates how the value of our products can be applied across multiple segments.

“Thanks to our many years of experience in the on-road sector, one of our ePowertrain products is now being introduced into the marine sector.

“This is a very important step that clearly demonstrates how the value of our products can be applied across multiple segments.

“We are confident that this step will help address the crucial challenges of the sector, where the demand for zero-emission systems will continue to grow in the years to come.”

Andrea Arcuraci, head of sales EMEA dealers at FPT Industrial, added: “We are thrilled to be expanding our range in the marine segment with a product that enhances the competitiveness of our offering.

“Our distributor network will be able to fully leverage this choice across all markets, effectively implementing the multi-energy strategy we have been pursuing for years, for which today’s announcement marks a new step forward.”

At the heart of the range is the eBS 37 EVO modular battery pack that incorporates cells and modules with ‘impressive energy density’ for reduced weight.

The battery pack is a development on from FPT’s previous version, the eBM 5 Battery Management System.

It has a new internal design which allows the battery to meet the safety standard ECE R100.3 and ECE R10.6.

The battery pack can be used to power both full-electric and hybrid applications.
