Axopar appoints new CEO

Kari Kulojärvi has been appointed as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Axopar Boats, effective August 4, 2025.

At the same time, current CEO Ari-Pekka Saarikangas will step down from his position and support Kari until January 2026.

The aim of the change is to further strengthen Axopar’s market position and improve the company’s customer satisfaction.

Kari brings more than 25 years of international business experience to his new role having held executive roles in product management, product development, and production.

He joins Axopar from McKinsey & Company, where he has led the company’s Finnish operations and solved strategic challenges for Finnish businesses.

The company is now at a stage where it is natural to transfer leadership to a new CEO.

“Axopar is an internationally known brand representing innovative and high-quality boatbuilding,” said Kari.

“Axopar’s success shows how it is possible to create a successful new product range with open minded and bold design. It is a privilege for me to lead Axopar into its next chapter.”

Vesa Laisi, chair of the board at Axopar Boats, welcomed Kari to Axopar.

“He has strong experience in transformative business processes and accelerating growth. Kari has demonstrated excellent change leadership, strategic vision, and innovative thinking,” said Vesa.

“He has developed global business operations and built high-performing teams. These are crucial qualities for the CEO of Axopar Boats Oy.”

Vesa added: “I would like to warmly thank Ari-Pekka Saarikangas for his significant contribution to Axopar Boats Oy.

Leadership transfer

“He is known for his strong expertise with customers, boats, and business operations.

“The company is now at a stage where it is natural to transfer leadership to a new CEO.”

During Ari-Pekka’s time in office, the company has grown its profits and strengthened its market position, utilising more than 35 years of experience in the marine industry.

“I am very pleased with how we have developed Axopar into a global player in the boat market together with the entire staff,” he said.

“I share the chairman’s words that this is a good time for both the company and me personally to move forward.”

Axopar is a Finland-based boat manufacturer. The company’s fleet ranges from 22 to 45ft and includes two all-electric AX/E models.

The company employs around 1,200 people.
