Ferrari has confirmed further details about its sailboat project at its shareholders meeting held in Amsterdam.
The information came from John Elkann, chairman of Ferrari, who said the Italian company was searching for maximum performance at sea which will offer new opportunities for innovation.
“We are confident that the knowledge acquired will inspire our future racing and sports cars,” he said.
“Enzo Ferrari was always looking for the next challenge, just like us today.”
The sailing project aligns with Ferrari’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2030, providing a platform to experiment with new technologies with a reduced environmental impact.
Professional Italian sailor Giovanni Soldini is a central figure in the programme.
Offering an exceptional experience is as important as an exceptional product.

“We are working on an important and cutting-edge project, with astonishing technological potential that brings together different worlds and top-level skills,” he said.
“Participating in the research and development of innovative and planet-friendly solutions with an exceptional team is truly a unique experience.”
It is believed the vessel will be a monohull around 30 meters, equipped with latest-generation foils.
Vessel features will be inspired by the AC75 of the America’s Cup with the design by Guillaume Verdier and will include photovoltaic panels, advanced composite materials and on-board automation solutions.
Construction is underway at a shipyard in Pisa, in collaboration with Italian companies with the goal to develop a high-performance, sustainable boat.
“Offering an exceptional experience is as important as an exceptional product,” said John.
“We will continue to create more moments like this for our community in the future.”
The boat is scheduled to debut in 2026.
Ferrari previously released a teaser video about the project saying it was ready to embark on an entirely new endeavour.
The car manufacturer previously tried to take its technology to the water with its 1952 Arno XI which hit a world speed record of more than 150mph.
