A revamp of the former Willow Marine site at Norfolk’s Brundall Marina is on the cards if a planning application is successful.
Norfolk Boat Sales (NBS) has applied to the Broads Authority to demolish six sheds and install a new 75m long floating pontoon, nine associated finger jetties and car parking.
The site is adjacent to the former Eastwood Marina site which now forms part of the wider Barnes Brinkcraft group under the NBS banner.
The company has recently acquired the site and is seeking to amalgamate this into the wider NBS site.
The site previously provided moorings and boatyard services including a chandlery and boat repairs. In more recent times, the site has provided moorings and support services only.
The site was previously subject to an approved planning application in 2019 to replace around 90m of quay heading, reprofile the mooring area and replace with quay heading and a floating pontoon.
The current proposal is a continuation of the work and a long overdue attempt to improve the visual aspect of the site, says Norfolk Boat Sales in its application documents.
The sheds that are proposed to be demolished vary from extremely derelict to barely serviceable, with some of the buildings used for the storage of boats and for the occasional repair and preparation of small motorboats and sailing dinghies.
Part of the site consists of a shared water space capable of berthing around 15 vessels.
The development is necessary to provide for the efficient operation of the combined boatyards, says Norfolk Boat Sales.
The reconfigured marina would create 19 new moorings.
