British Marine has appointed Sarah Wallbank as its global partnerships ambassador, a new non-executive role intended to support international relationships and identify opportunities for the UK leisure marine sector.
Wallbank will work with the organisation’s team to develop links with marine industry bodies, businesses and potential strategic partners. British Marine said the role would complement its existing international activity and help connect members with overseas markets.
Wallbank is chief executive of marine care company August Race, which operates the Oceans Assured sustainability initiative. She also holds a non-executive board position at the International Council of Marine Industry Associations and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade.
“British Marine has an important role to play in connecting our members with the wider international marine industry and ensuring the UK’s expertise, innovation and capabilities continue to have a strong voice globally,” said Earle Stanner, chief executive of British Marine.
Business opportunities
Stanner said Wallbank combined knowledge of the UK leisure marine market with established international relationships and commercial and trade experience.
He added that the appointment provided another route to build partnerships and identify opportunities for members and other UK marine businesses.
“The UK marine industry is recognised around the world for its quality, heritage, expertise and innovation, and there is a real opportunity to build on that reputation by creating stronger international connections,” Wallbank said.
She said the role would focus on opening conversations, connecting organisations and identifying areas where international collaboration could support British Marine members and the wider sector.
