British Marine Federation Group’s turnover reduced by £524,513 in 2025 compared to the previous year, largely due to a reduction in marina-generated turnover at its key revenue event, the Southampton International Boat Show (SIBS).
The figures are shown in the UK marine association’s latest accounts for the period ending December 31 2025.
The accounts show the association’s profit for the financial year was £50,309, compared to a loss of £359,025 for the 2024 period.
Overall net assets for the group increased by just over 10% whereas in 2024 there was a reduction of almost 42%. The amounts were £497,505 reported at the end of the last financial year end to £547,814 at this financial year end.
Turnover was £6,937,568 compared to £7,462,081 in 2024.
The association reduced operating expenses by more than £1 million to £7,026,591 compared to £8,059,437.
The accounts also show that debtors stood at £862,127 at the end of 2025 compared to £935,826 in 2024.
Creditors – the amount falling due within one year – was £3,813,617 compared to £4,009,789 for the 2024 period.
More than financial performance
In the association’s report for the year, the directors point out that the success and effectiveness of British Marine is measured by more than financial performance.
Instead, the directors say the key measureables are: membership numbers, representation of the industry and interaction with Government, development of key boat shows and member events to showcase the industry, and delivery of other boat shows and member events.
During the year, more than 100 networking events were held together with stakeholder meetings.
In addition, the association provided regular industry updates and supported members at international events.
The association is continuing to deliver its National Agenda which incorporates five pillars – people and skills; sustainability; technology and innovation; representation; and participation.
A range of training courses were also held.
Membership level is stable at circa 1,300 members across multiple sectors.
