The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) has promoted Casey Bates to the position of professional certification director.
Bates previously served as certification manager and has played a key role in growing ABYC’s certification programme and advancing standards-based education across the marine industry.
In her new role, she will focus on supporting new and existing marine technicians, advisors and students by advancing ABYC certifications, expanding continuing education opportunities and strengthening a professional development pathway that supports the marine industry’s need for a skilled workforce.
World-class programme
“Casey has been with us since 2006, and this promotion recognises the hard work and dedication she has shown in building ABYC’s professional certifications into a respected, world-class programme,” said John Adey, ABYC president.
Bates added: “ABYC has been my professional home for nearly two decades.
“I’m honoured to step into this role and continue advancing excellence in certification.”
ABYC has been developing safety standards for boat design, construction, equipage, repair and maintenance since 1954 with the aim of supporting safer boating.
ABYC currently offers ten professional certifications managed by Bates, including Marine Standards, Marine Electrical, A/C Refrigeration, Marine Engines and Fuel Systems and USCG Recreational Boat Regulations.
