Thomas Bjønness is to take over the helm of NORBOAT in April in the position of acting general manager.
He will take over from Magnus Ryhjell who is resigning after five years as general manager.
Ryhjell has been CEO of NORBOAT since 2020, and has led the industry organisation through a period of both strong growth and subsequent market changes.
He now takes on a new position as CEO of a company that develops digital solutions for cabin owners.
“There have been, pleasantly enough, a few offers now and then in recent years, but I have chosen to say no in order to develop myself together with talented people at NORBOAT and in good cooperation with many good people in an industry that is changing,” he said.
We are in a challenging time with many changes that I look forward to tackling together with the industry.

“This time, however, I felt it was right to say yes to try something new.”
NORBOAT board chairman, Einar Heiberg, added: “With Thomas in, we get good continuity in NORBOAT’s projects.
“He brings solid experience from his years at NORBOAT and a broad network in the industry.”
Bjønness has worked at NORBOAT since 2018, as member manager and senior advisor respectively.
Appropriate place
“We are in a challenging time with many changes that I look forward to tackling together with the industry,” he said.
“Those who know me know that I think about boats for about 23.5 hours a day, so there is no more appropriate place for me than at NORBOAT.
“I am really looking forward to taking on the task and greatly appreciate the trust the board has shown in me.”
