Cape Town’s Evolution Marine Manufacturing (EMM) is entering the high-performance sector through a partnership with Sailing Architect BV and MW Naval Architecture.
MW Naval Architecture has an extensive track record in high-performance yacht design, advanced composite structures, and modern foiling platforms.
The firm’s experience incorporates offshore racers, foil-assist concepts, and data-driven performance engineering.
The company will provide technical knowledge for the project which is in its final design stage, transforming the design into an engineered, competition-ready offshore foiler.
Foiling yacht construction
Sailing Architect BV is led by Willem Jan Landman and will oversee the performance concept development and marketing of the MW40 Offshore Foiler.
The partnership marks a step forward in EMM’s expansion into advanced composite and foiling yacht construction.
The collaboration centres on the MW40 Offshore Foiler, a next-generation 40ft offshore racer which incorporates engineered lightweight construction with the latest foiling technologies.
EMM says its selection as the first build partner reinforces the yard’s growing reputation for precision, technical capability, and uncompromising quality.
This latest project adds to our growing profile in the high-performance segment.

The project will build on experience gained from Class40 programmes and other performance projects.
“The yard operates as a boutique, engineering-led composites specialist, supported by a strong technical team and a new dedicated facility designed for precision manufacturing,” explained a spokesperson for EMM.
“Lead builder Stefan Falcon brings a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and high-performance execution — ensuring every detail of the MW40 meets elite offshore standards.”
Technical depth
The spokesperson added: “The MW40 Offshore Foiler represents EMM’s ambition to compete globally in the high-performance sector, delivering composite excellence and technical depth to one of the most exciting offshore racing projects of the decade.
“The combined ambition of the design and build team is to launch a multi-yacht series capable of competing internationally, both within a dedicated class and under IRC.”
Qas such, the MW40 Offshore Foiler will be built to a One Design Class ‘Box Rule’.
EMM founder, Oliver Dawson, concluded: “This latest project adds to our growing profile in the high-performance segment, with multiple advanced builds now underway.”
