Rising costs force Boat Show Denmark to move to an on-water show

Boat Show Denmark is to move to an on-water show for the first time in the show’s history.

The event has also been pushed back in the calendar and will now take place in May 2026

Organisers have announced that the exhibition is moving out of the MESSE C halls and will instead take place in Marina Fredericia.

The move is due, among other factors, to traditional indoor boat shows being challenged throughout Europe by the difficulty of attracting boats due to rising costs, particularly regarding transportation.

The move to the central location of Marina Fredericia has received support from both the marina’s management and the industry.

Natural element for boats

“We are delighted to be able to present Boat Show Denmark in an environment that supports the natural element of boats and creates a completely new experience for both exhibitors and visitors here in Fredericia,” says Glen Blæsbjerg, project manager at MESSE C and Boat Show Denmark.

“Spring is the perfect time to buy new equipment or upgrade. The enthusiasm and dream of getting on the water is greatest right then.”

And he added that the new setting will make the boat show experience more authentic.

Boat Show Denmark 2026 will be an exhibition for the entire industry and all types of sailors.

“Here, the boats are not placed on the floor of a hall – but are moored in the water, ready to be explored. It also opens up completely new activities and audience experiences,” he said.

The move to a floating, on-water show is said to have received support from exhibitors, with a range of craft due to be shown from RIBs to 60-foot yachts and motorboats.

One of the exhibitors who has already registered for Boat Show is Thomas Hougaard, director of the Faurby Yacht shipyard.

“Faurby Yacht has previously participated in Boat Show Denmark indoors, but I have dreamed of it moving outdoors,” he said.

“So now I hope that a fantastic exhibition can be created in the middle of Denmark, where all shipyards are represented.”

Dreaming about life at sea

Faurby Yacht will exhibit three or four boats, including its Faurby 500 DS yacht.

Among the motorboat dealers is Bluebay Marine.

“We look forward to participating in Boat Show Denmark 2026 and giving both new and existing customers the opportunity to experience our latest models directly on the water,” said director Dan Løwe Christiansen.

“Spring is the ideal time to continue dreaming about life at sea – or to make the decision about a new boat.”

“Boat Show Denmark 2026 will be an exhibition for the entire industry and all types of sailors – regardless of whether you are an experienced competitive sailor, recreational sailor, beginner or just out to sniff out the dream,” concluded Glen Blæsbjerg.

Boat Show Denmark will be held from 1 – 3 May 2026 at Marina Fredericia, Jesper Banks Vej 18, 7000 Fredericia.
